Er is voorlopig nog heel weinig informatie voorhanden, en dan moeten ook wetenschappers speculeren. Door gebrek aan informatie kan professor Coolsaet niet zeggen of de aanslag gepleegd werd door een kleine, lokale groep of door een gestructureerde organisatie die vanuit Syrië mensen aanstuurt. Dat kan leiden tot compleet verschillende conclusies.
