At the turn of the twentieth century, thousands of Belgians left their native country and crossed the Atlantic. The American Dream was their beacon. 1906 and 1907 were the peak years of this wave of Belgian migration. Several individuals as well as families with Coolsaet as their common surname took part in this journey. They were few in number, but they had some things in common: a humble background, the same place of birth, and, of course, their last name.
